ASSAM FLOODS: Death Toll Rises to 46 Amid Severe Deluge in Eastern Districts
The flood situation in Assam remains critical following heavy monsoon rains and upstream cloudbursts.
The disaster has affected over 7.27 lakh people in 25 districts across the state, with eastern Assam—particularly Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat—bearing the brunt of what state ministers have described as the worst flooding the region has seen in over 60 years.

Rescue Operations & Government Response

Central Assistance: Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, confirming that an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) is being deployed to assess the flood damage and coordinate central relief funding.
